Concerned about outliving your RETIREMENT?

One of the biggest concerns clients come to me for help is “will I outlive my money?” With modern technology people are living longer today and it is especially a concern for women.

I am NOT CONFIDENT about my retirement future.

The Challenge:

  • Will my money last my lifetime?
  • Will I be able to do all the things I’ve dreamed of doing in retirement?
  • Can I retire now before Social Security age?

HOW MUCH will you need to retire?

How much each person needs for retirement is not a one size fits all and you can’t use rules of thumb. Your retirement is as uniue as you are. We start with your goals such as want’s and needs. We consider your living expenses, the impact of inflation, taxes and how much you’ll need to fufill those needs and wants. I’ve helped other women just like you live out their dreams in retirement. Check out my “living your dream” case study.

IRA contribution & Tax

To secure a retirement that could last 25 to 35 years, you need to take advantage of long term growth in a tax deferred vehicle like your 401(k) or a traditional IRA. While you’re working, you generally are in a higher tax bracket than when you retire.

There are different vehicles that have different tax treatments when you are ready to withdraw. A roth IRA goes in after tax while a regular IRA goes in before tax.

One of the most asked question of my clients in retirement is “which type of account do I draw on first”? Managing taxes in retirement is vital to not paying too much in taxes.

Social security retirement benefits

When to take social security is a common question that we analyze in a financial plan. Social Security planning is complex. We model the different choices and discuss the pro’s and con’s of each and help you decide whats best in your personal situation.

How to plan for long term care expenses

On average women live longer than men. Your personal plan will consider how you will pay for a major health event or how your life will be impacted by a premature death. We discuss the need for life insurance and the need for long term care insurance. It could be your assets are enough to cover it yourself or we consider transferring that risk to a long term care insurance policy.

Gifting

When it comes to gifts there are two types of gits. Gifts to people you love and care about. This is giving to your kids or other family members. You can give during your lifetime or you can give after your death. We help you manage both.

The other type of gift is giving to charity. There are gifting strategies that are available to you which benefit the charity and your tax situation.
